Duplicate return policy combinations
The same return policy submitted twice, or a stack of overrides past the limit, leaves Google with more policies than a product can have, and it refuses to guess which one wins.
What Google requires
One policy per combination, within the limit
A product resolves to a single return policy per country and surface. Sending the same combination twice, exceeding the number of overrides Google allows, or carrying the wrong number of policy fields produces duplicates. Google reports it as Duplicate return policy combinations.
What Google does
The policy is refused
Faced with two policies for the same case, Google cannot choose, so your default can take over and the intended terms are lost. Duplicates usually come from combining an account policy with per-item overrides that repeat it rather than replace it.
How to fix it by hand
Collapse the duplicates
- Send one policy per country and surface; remove the repeated combination.
- Keep overrides under the allowed limit.
- Check the field count matches what the policy attribute defines.
