Deprecated energy efficient attributes
Since April 2025 the standalone energy-efficiency attributes are valid only for products targeting Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom. An EU product that needs a graphical energy label uses the certification attribute with EPREL data instead.
What Google requires
The certification attribute, not the legacy fields
Since April 2025, the legacy energy-efficiency attributes — energy_efficiency_class, min_energy_efficiency_class and max_energy_efficiency_class — are available only for products targeting Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom. EU products that require a graphical energy label use the certification attribute with EPREL data. Google reports continued use of the old fields for an EU product as Deprecated energy efficient attributes.
What Google does
The energy data is treated as out of date
An energy class on the deprecated fields marks the data as stale, and in EU categories the label is expected to come through certification, so the old submission no longer carries it cleanly. The product still serves, but the energy signal is discounted.
How to fix it by hand
Move the label onto certification
- Carry the energy label through the
certificationattribute (an EPREL number) rather than the legacy energy-class fields. - Retire
energy_efficiency_classand its min and max companions for EU markets. - Note that the attribute is still valid for Switzerland, Norway and the UK.

energy_class_legacy reads only the energy_efficiency_class attribute, and only on products it heuristically recognises as an energy-labelled category, flagging the legacy value where an EU country needs a certification instead.
